SCHENECTAR PORTUGAL

SINGLE STREET, MI – The Stingrays have officially announced the introduction of a new sports car, ‘Sport Racer’, at the 2017 Sprint Cup. The Stingrays will be introduced as the new season-ticket holders for their Honda IndyCar Series season (2017) season-opening race.

The Stingrays will become the first sports car at Sprint Cup, and the first SAE Formula One car to have that feature in Formula One history. The sport racer will be driven by Honda’s John Gill, along with drivers John Alighieri, Jim Lea and Brad Keselowski. The vehicle will be driven by James Allison, Jr., a new racer who would return a successful 2013 season.

According to Honda’s press release, the new Sport Racer from the Honda IndyCar Series races in the F2 Series along with other SAE Formula One cars from a select group of teams, including McLaren, Toyota, McLaren and Sauber. In addition, Honda’s 2016 model year 2017 and season-opening race cars will feature its sports car lineup alongside its F1 entry model.

When the Sprint Cup will be open to new Honda drivers starting September 25, the Sport Racer will be available from the Honda website and TTS service at select SAE Circuit dealerships within Michigan.
